Revlon Balsam Fir - Parfumerie - Scented Nail Polish Collection - Memorial Day Manicure

Happy (Belated) Memorial Day!!!

Today's post is another special one! I decided to honor a Veteran for my Memorial Day manicure. This veteran is someone that is very special to me and my family. Gary Douglas Brewer passed away November 13th of last year after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Gary was a veteran and an all around awesome guy! He was a highly decorated and could safely be labeled as one of the bravest men I've ever had the privilege of knowing. With (3) tours in Vietnam he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, (2) bronze stars (one with valor, which is awarded for acts of heroism) and two Purple Hearts. To say this man was a hero is an understatement. Details of Gary's heroic acts have been detailed in two books, The Battle of Saigon and 100 Miles of Bad Road (pictured below). I wanted to dedicate this manicure/post to him as a little token of my respect and appreciation. The inspiration for the nail art is the "symbol" or "insignia" for the Staff Sergeant ranking in the Army which was one of the titles Gary held. He ended up retiring as an Air Force Master Sergeant in 1993 after 26 1/2 years of service.

I want to take a minute and say THANK YOU to all veterans young and old, your sacrifices don't go unnoticed or unappreciated. I've always had great respect and honor for our veterans, after meeting my husband, who is a Marine Corp veteran, I learned so much about what our military men and women go through. This knowledge created a whole new level of respect within me.

Please make sure you take a minute out of your life once in a while, not only on Memorial Day or Veteran's Day and let a veteran around you know how much they are appreciated.

Now on to the pics!!

Revlon - Ginger Melon - Parfumerie Scented Nail Polish Collection

Hey Everyone :)
So today's post is of another scented polish that I picked up last weekend. I got this shade and the Lime Basil at CVS. While looking for this Ginger Melon color, which my sister Emily told me about, I noticed that certain stores only have certain shades of this type of polish from Revlon. When first looking for this, I went to Target - they didn't have the Ginger Melon or the Lime Basil.... so I thought that was odd. I figured that every store that carried these polishes would have all the same shades, but.... i guess not! :)

This shade is so pretty! It's one of my favorite colors this season by far! The only problem I had with this polish was that it was a little on the streaky side. I ended up using 3 coats on ring finger :( I think this color is the perfect summer color and I think it would look great on anyone!

I used Salon Sciences - Starting Over Artificial as my based coat - I picked this up at Sally's a couple weekends ago. My nails have been a little on the weak side lately, I've been slacking on taking my vitamins so they've been suffering a little. I used two coats of the polish on each nail except for the ring finger, which like I said I had to use 3. I finished the look with a coat of Out The Door top coat. If you take a look at the last picture - which I took today in the sun - it is the color in real life. BEAUTIFUL!!

Revlon - Lime Basil - Parfumerie Scented Nail Polish Collection

Hey Hey Hey! It's so beautiful outside I almost can't stay inside long enough to write this post. Here in Indiana right now it's Sunny and 75° :) No complaints here haha

Anyway today's post I have a new polish that I bought over the weekend from CVS. I have a couple of these Revlon Parfumerie polishes and I really like them. The only thing about this Lime Basil one is that it was actually pretty strong as far as the scent when I first painted my nails last night. The smell reminds me of Zest soap lol - is that still around? LOL Am I too old? Anyway... I really like the color and think it's a great "spring green"

The following pics are two coats of Lime Basil and one coat of Out The Door top coat.

Let me know what you think! Do you have any of these "scented" polishes?

Revlon Emerald City - Elf Movie Nail Art

Hey Everyone! Today I have another Christmas themed manicure. This is based off the photo below that someone had posted on my Facebook wall last week. They asked me to recreate it - so I figured I would give it a try :) After doing some research on the internet - I believe I found the correct source/credit of the photo - if anyone knows for sure and I am wrong - please let me know. I am not by any means trying to pass this off as my own original idea. I believe the artist/owner is *lovesac from the website Deviant Art.

For my version of this manicure I started out with OPI Nail Envy as my basecoat, then used 2 coats of Revlon Emerald City for my index, middle and pinky fingers and used Wet N Wild French White on my ring finger and thumb. For the nail art and text I used my Miji Nail Art pens. For the buckle on his coat I used a toothpick and Orly Tiara. I then used Essie Good To Go as my top coat on everything.

Let me know what you think!! Any requests/suggestions for more Christmas nail art? Just let me know :)

On to the pics! Enjoy♥

Added Essie As Gold As It Gets

Have A Good One :)

Revlon Coastal Surf - Happy Birthday James!

Hello Everyone! Today I have a special manicure that I am dedicating to my little nephew James! He turns 2 years old today! I can't believe it :) He loves Sponge Bob and he especially loves Gary! LOL So I created a little Gary on my nails for him. It turned out okay - haha I haven't done actual nail art like this in a while, so I felt a little rusty - but I think you can get the gist of it. I used my newest polish purchase - Revlon Coastal Surf from their new ColorStay Longwear collection - I LOVE THIS COLOR! It's such a pretty bright color and goes on great. The only complaint I had with it was the brush had a couple out of whack bristles - but I fixed that with no problem. I always forget to open the bottle and check the brush when I am in the store - but yet I always have a habit of grabbing the second bottle in line - as in I never pick the one in front. haha I am not sure why I do this either - I guess I am weird like that - Does anyone else do that? Anyway - for the accent nails I used my Migi Nail Art pens and for the base color I used my trusty old Wet and Wild - French White and went over that with my China Glaze Lemon Fizz from their Up and Away collection. I used Essie's Good To Go as my top coat.

Now on to the pictures - which includes a rare glimpse at my right hand hahaha! Also a couple of the pictures have some different lighting - I'm trying to find the best spot in my house to photograph in - so far I think is the kitchen, which is where all the pics but the top two were taken. Let me know what you think! Enjoy♥

Rare look at my right hand :)

I feel like I do a better job on painting my right hand sometimes lol

BONUS BIRTHDAY BOY PICS!!

Hey Everyone!! So this post is going to be long and with lots of pics :) Basically it's just pics of all the polish I hauled in March and April... I have been buying a lot of polish lately - so I figured I might as well share them with you - these aren't the most color accurate photos so if there is a certain polish you want to see me swatch... just let me know!!

Some of these I have used already - some I haven't! Here they are!!
Urban Decay - Apocalyptic Collection
L-R - White Widow, Gunmetal, Apocalypse, Grunge, Meltdown, Big Bang, F-Bomb
I got this collection from HauteLook.com - which I am obsessed with btw :) - It was on sale for $10 - so there was no way I was going to pass that up. I have heard of Urban Decay before - but never bought any of their products.

I got this little set at Payless - I think it was on sale for like $4.99 - Regular price was $9.99

Orly Plastix Collection
L-R - Retro Red, Old School Orange, Purple Pleather, Viridian Vinyl
I got RR, OO & VV from CVS - they were out of the Purple Pleather - so I ordered that from TransDesign.com - along with some other things. I had the hardest time getting this polish, they sent it to the wrong address and it ended up taking 2x as long to get it. I was very mad at TD for awhile - but I am sure they will get a second chance :)

Zoya Summertime Collection
L-R - Sooki, Tamsen, Areej, Kieko, Mira, Breezi
I got this collection when Zoya had their great BOGO sale - love these! :)

Unforgettable Moments
L-R - Blueberry Punch, Boyfriend Blue, & Liquid Candy
I got these 3 on sale at Payless along with the Zoe & Zac polishes - these are normally $2.99 - but they were on sale for $1.00 I think :)

Sinful Colors - not color accurate
L-R - Dream On, Innocent, Happy Ending, Savage, & Mint Apple
I got all of these but Dream On at Walgreens - which we don't have in my hometown - we have like 10 CVS stores and no Walgreens.. lol anyway - I bought Dream On at Target - which I am so excited they are carrying now :)

Revlon
L-R - Siren & Electric
Siren is from the Vintage Collection - which I love the different look on the bottle. I got both of these from CVS

This polish is called Maui - I got it from... surprise, surprise... CVS lol - I believe this was $7 or $8

L-R - Cajun Shrimp, Don't Mess With OPI, Ski Teal We Drop, Russian Navy, & Lincoln Park After Dark
I bought all of these polishes from Beauty Brands - $8.50 each

Avon
L-R - Mambo Melon, Urban Grey, Coral Bikini, Strawberry, Sunshine, Lagoon & Viva Pink
I bought all of these polishes from my mom who is an Avon Rep - I got all of these for $15.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects
These are called Kitty Kitty - I got them at CVS - they were BOGO 50% off - I picked up 2 - I also bought Wild Child - which is the Zebra one. I think I will be putting that into a giveaway.

China Glaze
L-R - Lemon Fizz, Pink Voltage(Neon), Rose Among Thorns(Neon) & Coconut Kiss
I got all of these at Sallys - I got Rose Among Thorns and Coconut Kiss during the Buy 2 Get One Free special - I actually think that is till going on.

OPI

L-R - Black Shatter, The One That Got Away & Black Shatter
I bought these from a salon at our local mall - called Maxx and Mia. Honestly I wasn't really that psyched about the whole shatter craze, but decided I would give it a fair try myself and not just go off pics. I tried it the other day and I have to say, it's pretty cool! I think I like watching it shatter more than anything lol
I bought two of these b/c I will probably be putting this in the giveaway as well.

So that is it! Let me know what you think and if there are any you want to see swatched :)

Have a good day!
